Bed maintenance includes regular care of landscape beds to keep them clean, healthy, and visually appealing. This typically involves weeding, edging, trimming, mulching, and monitoring plant health.
Light maintenance: Every 2–4 weeks during the growing season
Full clean-ups: Spring and fall
Mulching & edging: 1–2 times per year
Regular service prevents weed overgrowth and keeps your beds looking fresh year-round.
Weed removal (manual or chemical)
Light pruning of shrubs/perennials
Freshening or turning existing mulch
Re-edging bed lines
Removing debris and dead plant material
Checking for pests or diseases
Usually not, unless you have evergreen beds or need occasional leaf/debris cleanup. Winter is a good time to plan changes, prune dormant plants, or prep for spring.
Regular hand-weeding or spot treatments
Apply pre-emergent herbicides in spring
Use landscape fabric under mulch or rock
Maintain a thick, even mulch layer (2–3 inches)
